EU-kommisjonen har nylig vedtatt en ny arktisk strategi, og av saker i mediene de siste månedene har det vært tydelig at regjeringen bruker store ressurser på å forsøke å påvirke EUs synspunkt på petroleumsvirksomhet i Arktis. Men i arktisstrategien heter det bl.a. at EU står fast ved sitt standpunkt om å sikre at olje, kull og gass forblir i bakken, også i arktiske strøk. Torsdag sist uke la NVE fram en rapport som bekrefter det som Rødt har advart om lenge: Den eksplosive veksten i datasentre som ligger foran oss, vil gjøre at Norge får kraftunderskudd og høyere strømpriser om få år. Ifølge NVE vil datasentre som allerede har fått reservert nettkapasitet, bruke mer enn 25 TWh strøm årlig innen 2035. Det er langt mer enn kraftoverskuddet vi har per i dag.
